| Car Hire In Malaga | |
| In order to appreciate the area it is a good idea to hire a car to get around. We have listed below a number of car hire companies who operate from Malaga airport. | |
| CarRentals.co.uk | Europcar |
| Malaga Car | RentSpain |
| Hertz | Bauer Car Rentals |
| 1. | When you leave the airport get in the right hand lane and head for the N340/A7. Go towards Algerciras and Cadiz. (Note that the A7 is the new name for the N340 so you are likely to see both road numbers on the same road so follow either and you will be fine.). |
| 2. | Where you see the San Miguel factory on the right, take the right fork here. Do not go over the bridge towards Malaga. Stay in the right hand lane and bear right past the BMW showrooms again following the A7. |
| 3. | The journey is straight for about 20 miles. Keep following the A7 (N340) signs for Algerciras and Cadiz. (Not AP7 which is the tollroad and you don’t want this. If you do take this in error though – get off at Calahonda and call us from there). |
| 4. | You’ll see signs for Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola and La Cala de Mijas as you carry on the A7/N340. (Don’t take the Torremolinos coast road; it will take you much longer). |
| 5. | Leave the N340/A7 when you see a sign for Fuengirola and Coín. This is really easy to miss as it is quite small. So look out for it once you approach Fuengirola (don’t get off at other Fuengirola signs – this is the one also for Coín). |
| 6. | This is quite a busy roundabout. Bear right for Coín (2nd exit). There is a garage on the right turn off the roundabout. After this you will go through a row of shops and industrial units, over a new roundabout, past a garden centre “La Vega” then you will see the Byblos Hotel and then Tamisa Golf Hotel. |
| 7. | La Cala Hills is signposted and you will see it on your left a few hundred yards after Tamisa Golf. (If you go past St Anthony’s College you have gone too far without turning off). |
| 8. | After turning left off main road take the slip road on your right, which is parallel to the main road, follow the road round to the left and you will see the first left is no entry. |
| 9. | Take the second left and go almost to the bottom. You will see a gate with security guard and there is a sign saying Fase 1, La Cala Hills. Sue or Simon will be waiting there for you, if they are not there call them as they will be in the apartment and will come down to meet you. They will also have told the security guard to expect you. |
Beware |
|
Be aware that there is a scam operating throughout France and Spain that is particularly targeting people leaving the airports. Someone will point out to you that there is something wrong with your car, usually a puncture. When you stop they pull up with you and one will tell you where to get it fixed whilst the other will get into the car to steal passports, cash etc. They sometimes also approach at car parks and garages. It is advisable to put all the luggage possible into the boot so that it is not obvious you have just arrived and to always ensure your doors are always locked when you leave the car. |
